In 1909, the NAACP was born. The NAACP established its National Office in New York City in 1910 and named a Board of Directors as well as a President. The NAACP is now 107 Years old (2016).
The NAACP's principal objective is to ensure the Political, Educational, Social and Economic, Equality of Minority Groups in particular and All Citizens of the United States and to eliminate race prejudices. The NAACP seeks to remove All Barriers of Racial Discrimination through the Democratic Process

I am grateful for the opportunity to serve as President of the Newly Re-organized NAACP Ypsilanti/Willow-Run Branch, which area expands throughout Eastern Washtenaw County. It is a great honor and a tremendous responsibility as the NAACP is comprised of the most astute
Civil Rights Leaders throughout the nation, since its inception in 1909. Humility and employing the principles of servant leadership are important to me, as I seek to lead this organization. I intend to move forward effectively, with the mission and vision of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People – NAACP.
I greet you as the President with excitement and pride. The theme for my leadership is “Vision, Visibility and Voice” as we ensure that the 2017 NAACP’s theme, “Our Lives Matter, Our Votes Count,” is realized.
Your membership demonstrates your commitment and support for the NAACP. We thank you. You should know that it is through your membership, donations and support that the core value of the NAACP Ypsilanti/Willow-Run Branch's Mission and Vision are strengthened.
I reflect upon the words of Mahatma Gandhi, “We must become the change we want to see” (Gandhi).
